Former UFC champion Henry Cejudo offers to train Jake Paul for MMA debut

Former UFC champion Henry Cejudo has offered Jake Paul the chance to train at his gym in preparation for an MMA debut.

Paul has five professional victories in the boxing ring but is eyeing a switch to the cage. The YouTube star has held talks with promotions Bellator and PFL, and has even offered UFC president Dana White the chance to stage fights against Conor McGregor and Jorge Masvidal in the octagon.

'Triple C' invited Paul to his gym on social media, tweeting: " Jake Paul I’d love for you to come out to Phoenix and train with me at Fight Ready. If you’d rather tell me to f*** off, it’s all good. The offers on the table." Cejudo later continued his invite by claiming Paul has a better chance of becoming champion in MMA than in boxing.

“With the IQ that I have for MMA, if Jake Paul ever wants to come out to Fight Ready, to come out and train with me, I would take care of him dude," Cejudo said on The Triple C and Schmo Show. "I think he has a better chance in mixed martial arts to become a world champion that he does in boxing.

“Jake Paul if you want to come up and train with Triple C, I would be more than willing to help you and show you the skills of the trade. Now if Jake Paul tells me to f*** off then it’s all good. This is just coming from my heart man.”

Cejudo is eyeing a return of his own to the octagon and has been working with the likes of Jon Jones as he continues his involvement with MMA. Paul has a background in wrestling from his childhood days and has taken to the cage before.

The YouTube star later unveiled footage of himself practicing his kicking technique after teasing a debut in MMA. However it was met with divided opinion by fan s. Paul previously claimed he planned to train with Russian star Khabib Nurmagomedov, and even wanted to stage a future fight with the Russian.

For now, Paul is planning a return to the boxing ring which has been confirmed for August 13 with the likes of Tommy Fury and Anderson Silva in the running for the clash. The 25-year-old sees no reason why he can't emulate his boxing success in the cage.

"For sure, 100 per cent I think it could happen," Paul said when asked about a possible MMA fight. "Why not? If I can learn how to box in two years and beat people like [Woodley], then why can't I learn how to do MMA in two years and beat people like him? That's my answer, it will happen at some point, 100 per cent."
