Former U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao tragically passed away in a car accident recently. Chao, who previously served as the U.S. Transportation Secretary, was involved in a fatal incident on a Texas ranch. The CEO of shipping company Foremost Group, a business established by her parents, Chao's vehicle reportedly ended up submerged in a pond on the ranch.
According to media reports, the accident occurred when Chao mistakenly put her Tesla Model X into reverse instead of drive. This error led to the vehicle going over an embankment and into the pond. Despite the prompt response of emergency workers, who arrived 24 minutes after being notified, the location of the incident posed accessibility challenges.
First responders made efforts to revive Chao, but unfortunately, their attempts were not successful. The tragic accident has left many in shock and mourning the loss of Elaine Chao, who was also known as the sister-in-law of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
