Former Trump Secretary Reveals Handling Of Personal Expenses

Donald Trump Former President Donald Trump speaks during a Commit to Caucus rally, Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, in Ankeny, Iowa.

Madeleine Westerhout, who previously served as former President Donald Trump's personal secretary, testified in court on Thursday regarding how Trump's personal expenses were managed through checks during her time working for him.

According to Westerhout, checks from the Trump Organization were sent to employees at the White House, and she would then present them to the president for his signature. The checks would arrive in a FedEx envelope, contained within a manila folder along with invoices on occasion.

Checks arrived consistently, possibly twice a month.

While Westerhout could not provide an exact frequency, she mentioned that the checks arrived consistently, possibly twice a month. She recalled witnessing Trump signing the checks, after which she would package them in a pre-labeled FedEx envelope and return them to the Trump Organization.

Although she could not recall a specific instance where Trump did not sign a check, Westerhout did remember a few occasions when the former president sought clarification by contacting former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg or another individual.
