Former Tottenham striker impressed by Arsenal's £100m transfer business ahead of Edu's fifth signing

Arsenal have had one of the busiest summer transfer windows out of all of the Premier League sides.

The Gunners have secured four new arrivals in Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner and Marquinhos but look set to break the £100m mark for a second successive summer. football.london understands a £32million deal to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City has been agreed with the Ukraine international set to become Arsenal's fifth summer signing.

Mikel Arteta is still keen to add a left-sided centre-back to his squad, as well as strengthening the midfield and attack prior to the start of the 2022/23 season. football.london understands Youri Tielemans is still being considered by the Gunners with the Leicester star entering the final year of his contract.

Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent expressed his admiration for Arsenal's transfer business on social media following reports that the north Londoners are set to seal a deal for Zinchenko later this week. Bent's post read: "I like what Arsenal are doing in this transfer window," followed by a GIF.

Edu and Arteta are still hard at work pursuing deals off the pitch as the Gunners continue their preparations ahead of the new season. Arsenal have started their pre-season tour of the USA with a 2-0 win over Everton following goals from new signing Jesus and Bukayo Saka.

Arteta spoke to reporters after Arsenal's training session on Monday and admitted the club are looking at different options in the transfer market. The Spaniard revealed: “There is no update with anybody and when there are updates we will let you know.

“We’re looking at different options in different positions and we’ll give you an update when we have it.” Arteta added: “We’ve been trying to [sign players earlier] and we have two recruitments already Until the end of the market we will keep trying to improve the squad and there are so many parties involved and sometimes things are not as quick as you want.”

Whilst Arsenal are continuing to build and improve their squad, north London rivals Spurs have signed six new players of their own. Antonio Conte has added Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Fraser Forster, Clement Lenglet and most recently, Djed Spence, to his side ahead of next season.
