Sebastien Bassong has claimed Christan Eriksen snubbed a potential return to Tottenham this summer in favour of a move to Manchester United.
Eriksen, 30, spent the second half of last season with Brentford before opting to link up with Erik ten Hag this summer. The midfielder has made 31 appearances for the Reds this summer.
Bassong, who spent three years with Spurs, recently told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport how Antonio Conte was keen on bringing the midfield maestro back to the club before he opted to make the move to Old Trafford.

“They went back for him, but I don’t think Christian Eriksen wanted to go back to Tottenham,” he said. “It’s difficult to come back to your ex-club and he had such a good time at Tottenham.
“But I agree, they are lacking creativity. Antonio Conte being Antonio Conte, with the way he plays. It’s difficult to stick somebody who is going to have the same work ethic, the heart that he demands and to have creativity. It’s either one or the other.
“For him, he’s not going to stay for long. But, at the moment, he is the manager.”
Eriksen has been an integral part of Ten Hag's early success at United. However, there are fears he could be set for a spell on the sidelines after being seen leaving Old Trafford on crutches following a robust Andy Carroll challenge in the win over Reading that saw him substituted.
