A former Tory Scotland Secretary is under investigation by the parliamentary standards watchdog over his use of stationery.
David Mundell is under investigation by Parliament's standards commissioner Daniel Greenberg for "use of facilities [stationery] provided from the public purse".
The parliamentary commissioner for standards' website said that the Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP had broken rule eight of the MPs' code of conduct.
The rule says: "Excepting modest and reasonable personal use, Members must ensure that the use of facilities and services provided to them by Parliament, including an office, is in support of their parliamentary activities, and is in accordance with all relevant rules.
Mundell was Scotland Secretary between 2015 and 2019. He was the deputy Scottish Secretary for five years before that and was the Shadow Scotland Secretary between 2005 and 2015.
Mundell is the seventh MP under investigation by the standards commissioner. Four of these are Tories while three are former Tories. One of them is Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who is under investigation over a possible failure to declare an interest.
Former health secretary Matt Hancock is also under investigation for allegedly trying to influence the commissioner's enforcement of the rules.
Mundell said: "A complaint has been raised regarding the use of House of Commons stationery and it is not possible to comment further until the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards has concluded his investigation."
