Former top aide to New York City Mayor Eric Adams was charged with bribery and conspiracy, accused of accepting $100,000 from a hotelier to buy her son a Porsche.

As Mayor Adams' chief adviser, Ingrid Lewis-Martin was a powerful figure in City Hall, known for her close ties to the mayor and her influence over key city decisions.

Prosecutors allege that beginning in 2023, she leveraged this authority to benefit two hoteliers by expediting permits for their projects, the New York Post reported.

In return, the businessmen gave her son, DJ Glenn Martin II, $100,000 in two checks, which he deposited into an account shared with Lewis-Martin and later used to buy a luxury car.

Her resignation over the weekend and surrender to authorities followed mounting scrutiny of corruption within Adams' administration.

On December 14, Lewis-Martin along with her son and the two businessmen, Mayank Dwivedi and Raizada Vaid, were indicted on charges of bribery, money laundering, and conspiracy.
