Former three-time Super Bowl champ would love a return to New England

Veteran safety Duron Harmon is nearing the end of his career, and he would love to finish things out with one last run with the New England Patriots.

Harmon was drafted by the Patriots in 2013 and spent seven seasons with the organization. Since leaving in 2019, he has played with the Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons and Las Vegas Raiders. He spent last season jumping between the Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns.

Harmon had a productive Patriots career, playing in 111 games and winning three Super Bowls with the team. He recorded 17 interceptions and 175 tackles in seven seasons.

“That would be the perfect end to this story,” Harmon said, when asked about joining the Patriots, during an appearance on the “Eye on Foxborough” podcast, via NESN.com’s Keagan Stiefel. “I would love to be a part of something from the beginning … because they’re trying to build something. I know they have the right people to do it, so if the opportunity came, I mean, that would be special. That would be a really special way to end my career.”

Harmon would certainly be a nice addition to the safety room. He’d add some more veteran depth behind Jabrill Peppers and Kyle Dugger.

Even with the youth movement still in effect, it wouldn’t be a bad thing for the Patriots to have another veteran in the lineup, especially one with as much big-game experience as Harmon. The former third-round pick out of Rutgers started his career in New England.

It would be quite the ending to see him finish it that way, too.
