Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Len Goodman dies aged 78 after short illness

Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Len Goodman has passed away aged 78.

The London native was best remembered for his work as head judge on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing series. He retired from the show in 2015 but continued to work as a judge on its US counterpart Dancing With the Stars until last year.

A spokesperson confirmed to the Mirror that he died in a UK hospice on Saturday surrounded by his family. Len had been diagnosed with bone cancer and passed away mere days before his birthday on April 25.

The former professional dancer also previously ran his own ballroom school in Kent. He confirmed he was retiring from Dancing with the Stars in 2022 in order to spend more time with his family

He is survived by his wife of over a decade Sue and his son James from a previous relationship.
