One of the big moves the Pittsburgh Steelers made in the offseason was to release starting slot cornerback Arthur Maulet. Now, according to multiple reports, Maulet is staying in the AFC North and will sign with the Baltimore Ravens.
Releasing Maulet came after the Steelers signed Patrick Peterson in free agency, then drafted Joey Porter Jr. and Cory Trice Jr. as well as signing Chandon Sullivan as a free agent as the draft was going on.
Maulet played the last two seasons with the Steelers after spending his first four seasons on three different teams. He found his niche with Pittsburgh as the team’s slot receiver where his aggression and physicality made up for his struggles in coverage. But Pittsburgh completely rebuilt the cornerback depth chart and having Peterson who can line up in the slot and Sullivan who is a slot specialist made Maulet expendable.
Former Steelers CB Arthur Maulet is nearing an agreement to sign with the Baltimore Ravens, per source.
Maulet played a lot of slot CB and special teams snaps for Pittsburgh last 2 years. And now he could play against Steelers twice a year.
