Aidomo Emakhu is expected to return to fitness ahead of schedule - and that could put him in the frame for an Ireland Under-21 call-up in the summer.
The former Shamrock Rovers man moved to Millwall in January and made his debut against Burnley, but a hamstring injury looked to have ended his campaign.
However, Emakhu has made a sensational recovery and this week he returned to the training pitch.
The 19-year-old now hopes to feature in a couple of Under-21 games for the Lions before the end of the season.
And he also has his eye on the Ireland Under-21 camp in June, where he could build on his fitness ahead of a return to pre-season training with his club.
Emakhu has been approached by Nigeria, with football chiefs there eager to bring him into their Under-21 fold.
The Dubliner, however, is understood to want to pursue an international career with the Boys in Green, but has been left frustrated to date by a lack of call-ups to various underage squads.
He made his debut for the Under-19s against Sweden in October 2021 and scored in that game.
Emakhu already has goals in the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League to his name from his time at Rovers.
