Former Shamrock Rovers goalkeeper Eamonn D'Arcy has passed away at the age of 89.
The three-time league of Ireland winner represented Rovers along with Shelbourne, Dundalk and Drumcondra FC over the course of a glittering career. D'Arcy retired in 1969 with Shels 18 years after he made his first league appearance.
After retiring from playing, D'Arcy made his first foray into management in 1984 as manager of the Republic of Ireland Women's National Team. He remained in charge of the side for two years before leaving the role.

"The FAI is saddened to learn of the death of Eamonn D'Arcy," began an FAI Twitter post.
"An Ireland B international, he was a goalkeeper who won three League of Ireland titles and played for Shamrock Rovers, Drumcondra, Shelbourne & Dundalk Eamonn also managed Ireland WNT in the 1980s."
"Former club Shamrock Rovers reacted to the news by posting, "All at Shamrock Rovers F.C. are saddened to learn of the death of our former goalkeeper Eamonn D'Arcy who passed away today.
"Affectionally known as ‘Sheila’, Eamonn was signed by Paddy Coad for the 1956/57 season. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam"
Eamonn D'Arcy will be sadly missed by his wife Alice, and children Geraldine, Susan, Michael and Alan.
