Former U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler of Georgia, who has been nominated by President Donald Trump for the position of Small Business Administration (SBA) administrator, is scheduled to appear before the Senate’s Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee on Wednesday. During this appearance, she intends to discuss Trump’s vision for the country and elaborate on her qualifications for the role.
In her prepared remarks, Loeffler reflects on her upbringing as the fourth generation on her family’s farm in Illinois, emphasizing that the essence of 'small business' runs deep in her heritage. She credits her parents, Don and Lynda, for instilling in her a strong work ethic and determination, despite not having formal degrees. Loeffler highlights the challenges her family faced in sustaining their farm and small trucking company, navigating market fluctuations, regulations, and daily obstacles.

Loeffler attributes her Midwestern work ethic to her experiences working in soybean fields and waiting tables at local restaurants, which she believes prepared her for a career in entrepreneurship. She proudly mentions being the first in her family to graduate from college and later obtaining an MBA.
Following her education, Loeffler played a pivotal role in the growth of a startup that eventually became a Fortune 500 company. Additionally, she co-owned the Atlanta Dream of the WNBA for a decade and founded a financial technology company, Bakkt, serving as its inaugural CEO and first employee.
Looking ahead, Loeffler expresses her commitment to leveraging her extensive business background to advocate for American entrepreneurs and support their endeavors. She aims to utilize her decades of experience to champion the interests of small businesses and contribute to the growth and prosperity of the entrepreneurial landscape in the United States.
