A former Crosby care home could be turned into a drug rehabilitation centre under new plans submitted to Sefton Council.
Substance Rehabilitation Ltd have applied for permission to convert the former College Green rest home at College Road in Crosby into a home providing residential and detox facilities for private clients.
In documents submitted to Sefton Council, the applicant states: “Substance Rehabilitation Ltd provide a safe and supportive environment and teach residents how to live a new way of life by working through a twelve-step program together.

“Substance Rehabilitation Ltd was founded to help people recover from the ravages of addiction, regain their sense of purpose and wellbeing, and establish strong foundations for fulfilling and enjoyable lives, with healthy, mutually beneficial relationships, and lifestyles that are sustainable in the long term.”
The facilities would house people seeking recovery from alcohol and drug addiction who would stay for between one week and three months.
The applications states that 25 jobs could be created at the centre, with nine members of staff on site at any one time.
The application states that minimal changes would be required to the building, which used to house up to 18 patients with dementia until the home closed last year.
Substance Rehabilitation Ltd are asking Sefton Council for a change of use permission for the building, which sits opposite the historic Victoria park.
A consultation has yet to be carried out on the proposals and there is still some way to go before any decision is made by Sefton Council on whether or not to grant permission to the proposal.
