A familiar name from the Seattle Seahawks has landed on his feet elsewhere in the league. Former Seahawks – and Chicago Bears – offensive coordinator Shane Waldron is headed to Duval County to join new head coach Liam Coen’s staff. While it is not made clear what Waldron’s role will specifically be at this time, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler predicts it will likely be a passing game coordinator type situation.
This will be the sixth NFL team Waldron has worked with.

Waldron will now work directly with the Jaguars’ new offensive coordinator, Grant Udinski, who was hired by Jacksonville on Wednesday. Udinski was a finalist for the Seahawks’ open offensive coordinator position, before the team ultimately decided to hire Klint Kubiak to the role.
With Liam Coen being a former offensive coordinator himself, Udinski will likely not be calling the plays. But having Waldron, someone who was the play caller in Seattle and Chicago, will help give Udinski a veteran presence to learn from.
Waldron was the offensive coordinator for the Seahawks from 2021-2023 before being allowed to seek employment elsewhere once Seattle hired Mike Macdonald. Waldron became the OC for the Bears in 2024 but was fired nine games into the year.
