Former Scotland hero Pat Nevin says the happiest days of his career were spent at Kilmarnock.
The ex-Killie ace graced iconic grounds in the premier league during spells with Chelsea and Everton but he has told how he fondly remembers his time at Rugby Park.
Pat spent a season and a half in the blue and white of Killie between 1997 and 1998.
The former wing king, now a successful football pundit has been speaking ahead of the big Ayrshire kick off this Friday.
But Pat, who earned 28 caps for the national team, will be taking to a very different arena as he'll take centre stage at the return of the regions iconic Boswell Book Festival.
Heading up an all-star line up, the ex-Celtic player will share his stories of his career spanning 20 years at Dumfries House as he discusses his book, The Accidental Footballer.
Pat said: “My career lasted 20 years and people remember me from the big clubs like Celtic, Chelsea and Everton.
"However, my happiest time was at Kilmarnock for a season and a half. We were successful, played exciting football and I still have more friends from my time there than probably any other club.
“I always thought I might live in Kilmarnock, but I spent that year commuting twice a week from Chester and then signed for Motherwell. I love the Ayrshire coast and we go to Arran every year.
“Doing festivals has given me opportunity to visit so many places, and one of my oldest friends lives in Cumnock but I have never been to Dumfries House. I am expecting to see lots of old college mates as well as some former colleagues and hopefully some Killie fans.
“I’m sure it’s going to be a great night and look forward to chatting to lots of people in the audience afterwards!”
