The New Orleans Saints had some former staffers/players hired around the league recently, with Aaron Glenn moving on to the New York Jets to become their head coach, and J.T. Barrett joining the Chicago Bears to be their quarterbacks coach. The Sean Payton tree continues to expand little by little each year as well:
- Dan Campbell: Detroit Lions HC
- Aaron Glenn: New York Jets HC
- Joe Brady: Buffalo Bills OC (prospective HC in near future)
- Joe Lombardi: Denver Broncos OC
- Ryan Nielsen: Jacksonville Jaguars DC
- Dennis Allen, Darren Rizzi: Former HCs with opportunities elsewhere
Sean Payton reacted to the hiring of Glenn by the Jets as well shortly after the fact, stating on social media that the opportunity was “Much Deserved.” Glenn was also a prospective candidate for the Saints head coaching vacancy this offseason, however ultimately chose to go a different direction, picking one point of his playing career over another.
With Sean Payton moving on a few years ago, the Saints now are focusing on building from the ground up under a new head coach, while many of their former staffers land elsewhere and are ending up being quality producers.
