Another former New Orleans Saints coach will be on the move this offseason, and this time it is Denver Broncos tight ends coach Declan Doyle moving on to join the Chicago Bears as their offensive coordinator. This will be the second former Saints coach joining as a coordinator under Ben Johnson, with Dennis Allen recently hired as the defensive coordinator for them as well.
Doyle was an offensive assistant with the Saints from 2019 to 2022, and then a year after Sean Payton left went to follow him to the Broncos, working there as a tight ends coach in 2023 and 2024. He has now gone to the Bears to work under Ben Johnson as the offensive coordinator, which is an enormously quick promotion and one that will give him the chance to work with some up-and-coming young players.
Doyle will join Allen as the primary coordinators under Johnson, and they almost ended up having Darren Rizzi as special teams coordinator as well, however that ultimately fell through. The Sean Payton tree is ever growing, and continues to do so this offseason with Aaron Glenn and Declan Doyle becoming major components of other coaching staffs.
