Former New England Patriots running back Danny Woodhead advanced in local qualifying for the U. S. Open on Wednesday.
Woodhead shot an even-par 71 at Omaha Country Club. He earned one of the five final qualifying berths. If he fully advances through local qualifying, he will move on to the final qualifiers.
The US Open is being held in Brookline, Massachusetts on June 16-19th at The Country Club.
Woodhead spent the 2010-12 seasons with the Patriots. He carried the ball 250 times for 1,199 yards and 10 touchdowns in three seasons.
After enjoying a successful career on the gridiron, Woodhead appears to be forging a successful path on the links as well.
The kick save. @danny__woodhead rolls in the birdie putt on No. 17 to get to -1. He finishes at 71 (E), second-lowest in so far. #USOpen | Local Qualifying pic.twitter.com/xPEB3TSmmQ
