Former Rangers midfielder provided 'mistake' confession after Cambuslang return says boss

Cambuslang Rangers co-boss Billy Campbell says Gordon Dick knows he made a mistake in leaving the club – but he was more than happy to take him back.

Dick moved to Lanark United in 2020 but has now returned to Campbell’s men as they look to win Conference B and earn promotion to Premier Division football.

The midfielder was previously at Rangers and Albion Rovers.

Campbell said: “Gordon has half-admitted that he made a mistake with regards to leaving us and we have been in touch with him over the last few weeks.

“He asked if he could come back and have another chance at it. He’s a fantastic footballer and I know him inside-out. He will bring something to the team for this extra push.”

Sam Greenwood meanwhile has extended his loan deal from Albion Rovers until the end of the season. He has been a member of an impressive backline for Camby this term.

They are back in Conference B action this Saturday against Port Glasgow after a 4-0 Kilmarnock Pie West of Scotland Football League Cup win over Drumchapel United.

Campbell added: “It’s great news on Sam. It gives us a problem at the back as we have Ryan Francis and Scott Anson playing well. We have decisions to make there. The two new signings are very positive.”

Paul Gordon meanwhile has terminated his deal at Camby and Campbell added: “We had a wee chat with Paul and he is looking to play every week.

“He is of the age and quality for that. We can’t promise that for any player so we had a chat with him. We said to him that if you want to move somewhere where you are more of a guaranteed start, then we are more than happy.

“We supported him with that so we shake hands and move on. That’s the way we like to treat players.”

Dick and Greenwood will be expected to make an impact when Camby take to Conference B action for the first time since November against Port.

Campbell explained: “We have had a bit of a tough time recently with the league campaign. We’ve been taken out of it with the cup games and the games postponed.

“It is unsettling for your league campaign but we just need to take each game as they come.

“We have said to the guys that they need to up their level of performance and tempo.”
