Charlie Telfer was impressed with Airdrie's five-star show as he played his first competitive match in almost five months.
And the midfielder is buzzing to be back on the pitch after enduring some "grim" Saturdays of late.
Telfer made his Airdrie debut yesterday and helped the Diamonds down Clyde in emphatic fashion to bounce back from their shock 6-0 defeat to FC Edinburgh on their last outing.
Ex-Bully Wee man Lewis Jamieson got things up and running in the first half before the floodgates opened after the break with Callum Smith netting a double and Gabby McGill and Salim Kouider-Aissa completing the rout.
One of the big attractions for Telfer in joining the League One side is their expansive football and he says being a part of that is a far cry from his recent weekends of sitting at home or solitary gym sessions.
He beamed: "It was very good. Having come in after the 6-0 defeat, there was a pressure on all of us to do a bit better because 6-0 is obviously not good enough.
"At times we were good and I think we did what we needed to hurt them and we got goals from it, so I'm delighted with that.
"From my experience of the league, getting that first goal is the hardest part. Then teams need to come out and if you have a bit of quality you can get a bit more and we've got five so we are delighted.
"It's my first game since the end of April and I felt good.
"I've been keeping myself ticking over but the training has been high intensity and we had a bounce game on Tuesday, which helped me as well.
"I was in training at the start of the summer here and then I had a couple of months away from it, just running in the gym.
"It was pretty grim.
"On Saturdays I have been watching the scores come in so it's great to be back and I loved every second of it out there."
Telfer lasted 74 minutes before being replaced by Calum Gallagher and the Diamonds were also able to introduce Kouider-Aissa and Dean McMaster.
Player/boss Rhys McCabe would have been involved if not for a migraine keeping him on the sidelines and Telfer is pleased with the squad's depth.
He added: "There is so much talent in the squad, even on the bench. There's so many players who can come in. The manager was ill today and didn't play, then you've got Dean and Sal, Ben Wylie.
"There is so many options and anyone can play at any given moment.
"That is exciting to be a part of and competition breeds better performances.
"I think I probably could have played the whole game but it is probably better to rest these legs a bit."
