Former Raiders TE Foster Moreau Reveals Cancer Diagnosis

Former Raiders tight end Foster Moreau announced that he’ll be stepping away from football after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Moreau, who was a free agent, had the diagnosis revealed while undergoing a medical examination with the Saints during an offseason visit with his hometown organization.

The 25-year-old shared an emotional message on Twitter, revealing the diagnosis to his fans and explaining his next steps.

“Through somewhat of a miraculous process, this Free Agency period has been life changing for me. During a routine physical conducted by the Saint’s medical team down in New Orleans, I’ve come to learn that I have Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and will be stepping away from football at this time to fight a new opponent: Cancer. I’m grateful for the support and thankful for people who have stood firm with me. There hasn’t been a single step I’ve taken without hundreds of people lighting the path before me, and I will continue to seek their guidance. That being said, I’ll go kick this thing’s ass and get back to doing what I love! AMDG!” Moreau wrote on Twitter

Moreau was a fourth-round pick by the Raiders in the 2019 NFL draft, having been selected 137th overall out of LSU. He played four seasons for the Tigers from 2015-18, making 30 appearances and catching six touchdown passes.

The tight end has featured in 61 games in his pro career, making 34 starts. In 2022, he recorded a career-high 33 receptions for 420 yards, scoring two touchdowns for Las Vegas.
