Former Queensland Health Metro North boss Malcolm Stamp has corruption charges dropped

The former boss of Queensland's largest public hospital service has had corruption charges relating to alleged nepotism dismissed.

Malcolm Frederick Stamp was the chief executive of Metro North Health and Hospital Service (MNHHS) between 2013 and 2014 and was charged by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) after an investigation in 2015.

The CCC alleged in 2014 Mr Stamp dishonestly arranged for his daughter, Katy Stamp, to be given a media and communication services job with an annual salary of $80,000.

It was alleged this was facilitated by another executive via a taxpayer-funded contract with a MNHHS consultant.

It was further alleged Mr Stamp then tried to cover it up with false documents.

He was sacked from his role in early 2015 after an internal investigation, and he returned to the UK where he has remained until earlier this year when he appeared for a committal hearing.

Mr Stamp did not appear this morning in the Brisbane Magistrates Court, where the three charges against him were dismissed.

Crown prosecutor Marc Green told the court he did not wish to continue with the charges after reviewing documentation.

"Your Honour may recall that the matter of Stamp proceeded as a committal with cross examination over a period of two weeks after which there was a request made to adjourn the matter so the Crown could consider the whole evidence," Mr Green said.

"Having done that, the position is that it will offer no evidence against Mr Stamp and ask that Mr Stamp be discharged."

Mr Stamp's lawyer, Saul Holt KC, made no comment on behalf of his client outside court following the proceedings.
