Former Pro Bowl CB Vontae Davis Arrested for DUI

Former NFL cornerback Vontae Davis was arrested on a DUI charge in Broward County, Florida on Saturday, online jail records confirm.

Florida Highway Patrol says that Davis was arrested after hitting a parked car and injuring a pedestrian while traveling on Florida’s Turnpike, according to the arrest report acquired by the Miami Herald. The report states that Davis, driving a Tesla sedan, rear ended a Toyota pickup truck that was parked on the right shoulder of the road and knocked the truck into one of the Toyota’s passengers.

That passenger was hospitalized with multiple injuries, according to the arrest report.

“Upon approaching Mr. Davis, I noticed that he was laying down on the right shoulder sleeping,” a Florida Highway Patrol trooper wrote in the report, per the Herald. “While speaking to Mr. Davis about the crash, I noticed that his eyes were blood shot red. He had to lean on the concrete barrier wall to keep himself sitting upright. With slurred speech Mr. Davis stated that he was not injured.”

The report states that Davis admitted to having “two mixed drinks,” but did not clarify the name of the location where he drank. He also refused sobriety tests at the scene.

Records show that the 34-year-old Davis faces one count of DUI, first offense. His bond is listed at $500.

Davis, a former first round pick by the Dolphins in 2009, played for 10 seasons in the NFL. After three years in Miami, he was traded to the Colts where he developed into one of the league’s best cornerbacks, making the Pro Bowl twice in 2014 and ’15. He went onto sign with the Bills before the 2018 season but retired at halftime of Buffalo’s season opener.
