Former President Trump Threatens To Fire Special Counsel If Reelected

In a recent interview, former President Donald Trump made a bold statement regarding his intentions if he were to be reelected. Trump expressed his readiness to 'fire' special counsel Jack Smith 'within two seconds' if given the opportunity.

During the interview, Trump was asked about the possibility of pardoning himself or dismissing the charges brought against him by Smith. Trump's response was unequivocal as he stated, 'I would fire him within two seconds.'

This declaration by Trump underscores his willingness to leverage the powers of the presidency to quash legal actions against him in the event of a reelection.

Jack Smith was appointed as special counsel by Attorney General Merrick Garland to oversee investigations into Trump's alleged misconduct related to the 2020 election and mishandling of classified documents. While one case involving classified documents was dismissed by a federal judge, Smith is pursuing an appeal.

Trump is currently facing charges in the election subversion case brought forth by Smith. Despite a recent Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity, Smith filed a revised indictment in August that maintained several charges against Trump, including conspiracy to defraud the United States and obstruction of an official proceeding.

Earlier this year, Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts in a separate case. He has consistently claimed, without evidence, that the justice system is being weaponized against him due to his presidential aspirations. Furthermore, Trump has hinted at his own intentions to weaponize the justice system against his political opponents if granted a second term.
