Former President Donald Trump's motorcade has arrived at the Manhattan courthouse where jury selection will begin for his hush money criminal trial. This marks a significant moment as he becomes the first former president to go on trial for criminal charges.
Court officials are anticipating a large turnout, with about 500 new jurors expected to appear each day starting Monday for the selection process. However, some of these individuals may also be assigned to other cases within the court system.
For this state criminal court case in the county, the jury pool will be limited to Manhattan residents. Approximately 100 prospective jurors will be brought into Judge Juan Merchan’s courtroom at a time for vetting.
The panel that will ultimately consider the 34 counts of falsifying business records against Trump will consist of twelve jurors. Additionally, six alternates will be selected to hear the case in case a juror on the main panel needs to be replaced.
