The incident took place while Trump was playing golf with friends at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Trump recalled hearing gunshots while on the course, prompting Secret Service members to quickly move him to safety. He praised the Secret Service for their swift response, stating that they apprehended the individual responsible for the incident.
The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. ET on a Sunday when a Secret Service agent noticed a rifle barrel protruding from a fence between the 5th and 6th holes of the golf course, located near a busy road.
Despite the unsettling experience, Trump expressed gratitude for the Secret Service's actions and emphasized the importance of their role in protecting public figures.
Reflecting on the incident, Trump mentioned that he would have liked to finish his game of golf but decided to prioritize his safety and follow the guidance of the security team.
The individual responsible for the assassination attempt is now in custody, and Trump expressed hope that justice would be served in the case.
