Former President Donald Trump is set to visit a fire department in midtown Manhattan on Thursday evening to pay tribute to first responders following a day spent in court for his ongoing criminal trial.
Trump, the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee, arrived at the New York City fire department with pizza in hand, a gesture reminiscent of his visit in 2021 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
During his time in court, Trump witnessed testimony and cross-examination on the criminal charges against him. The judge also heard arguments from both prosecutors and Trump's defense team regarding allegations that the former president violated a gag order imposed on him.
The FDNY, known for hosting leaders from various political backgrounds, expressed gratitude for any support shown to first responders. In a statement, the department emphasized, 'We appreciate whoever supports our members at the FDNY, regardless of their political affiliation.'
Trump has vehemently criticized the criminal trial, labeling it as 'election interference.' He has accused prosecutors of collaborating with the Biden administration to target him politically, asserting that Democrats are attempting to keep him tied up in legal proceedings and away from the campaign trail.
