Late President Jimmy Carter’s funeral services will span a total of six days, commencing in his home state of Georgia and culminating in his final resting place in Plains, Georgia. Carter, who passed away on December 29 at the age of 100, is being honored with a series of ceremonies and tributes.

The funeral proceedings began on Saturday morning in Georgia with a motorcade procession through Carter’s hometown of Plains. Following this, Carter laid in repose at his presidential center in Atlanta from 7 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Tuesday, allowing the public to pay their respects at all hours.

On Tuesday, Carter's funeral procession moved north to Washington, D.C., where he will lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda. A state funeral is scheduled for Thursday at the National Cathedral, with members of the public invited to pay their respects in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday.

All living former presidents have been invited to attend Carter’s funeral on Thursday at 10 a.m., with President Biden expected to deliver a eulogy during the service. The nation mourns the loss of a beloved former leader, as tributes and remembrances continue to pour in for President Jimmy Carter.
