The US Air Force Band solemnly played “Abide with Me” as a team of military body bearers carefully placed the casket of former President Jimmy Carter into the motorcade. This poignant moment marked the beginning of a series of tributes and honors bestowed upon the late President.
Upon the arrival of the aircraft carrying Carter's body at Joint Base Andrews, a 21-gun salute reverberated through the air, accompanied by other ceremonial honors presented by troops paying their respects.
The motorcade, now carrying Carter's casket, is set to make its way to the US Navy Memorial for a poignant “transfer ceremony and funeral procession” that will culminate at the US Capitol. This final journey will be a solemn and dignified tribute to the life and legacy of the 39th President of the United States.
