Former President Jimmy Carter and his family have arrived at Joint Base Andrews, located just outside of Washington, DC. A short ceremony is expected to take place at the base to transfer Carter's casket to a motorcade that will transport it to the US Navy Memorial.
Prior to the arrival of Carter's plane, it was reported that more than two dozen snowplow trucks were deployed to clear ice and snow from the tarmac. The area had experienced over 5 inches of snowfall on Monday, making it the snowiest day in the region in two years.
