Former President Jimmy Carter is being honored with a departure ceremony as his casket is transported from Georgia to Washington D.C. where he will lie in state at the Capitol. Carter had been lying in repose at the Carter Center in Georgia before the procession to the nation's capital.

The public has the opportunity to witness the motorcade as it makes its way to the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C. Additionally, the Lying in State ceremony at the Capitol will be open to all members of the public who wish to pay their respects.
