Former President Jimmy Carter passed away peacefully at his home in Plains, Georgia, surrounded by his family, as confirmed by the Carter Center in an official statement released on Sunday. Carter is survived by his four children - Jack, Chip, Jeff, and Amy - as well as 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, according to the center.

Public commemorations to honor Carter's enduring legacy will take place in Atlanta and Washington, DC, followed by a private interment in Plains, as outlined by the Carter Center. Details regarding his state funeral arrangements are still pending, the center added.
