Former Victorian premier Dennis Napthine has resigned as chair of the National Disability Insurance Agency board, just three months into his three-year term in the role.
Dr Napthine was named as chair on April 1 after being appointed to the NDIA board at the start of 2022.
NDIS Minister Bill Shorten said in a statement on Monday he had received Dr Napthine's resignation.
"I wish to thank Dr Napthine for his service as chair," Mr Shorten said.
"I also wish to acknowledge his work in reaching agreement with the Gillard Labor government to establish the National Disability Insurance Scheme in Victoria."
Fellow NDIA board member Jim Minto will be acting chair of the body until a new chair is appointed.
Mr Shorten paid tribute to Dr Napthine's service in the sector.
"Dr Napthine is a committed advocate for the NDIS and as a carer and somebody who has worked in the disability area, he has a great deal of passion for NDIS participants and their families," he said.
"I look forward to continuing to work with Dr Napthine in the future to ensure the best outcomes for NDIS participants, their families and carers."
