Teemu Pukki could be set for a move to MLS after his five-year stay at Norwich City came to a close at the end of the season.
The Finland international's half decade at Carrow Road yielded some 88 strikes across 210 appearances, putting him fourth in the club's all-time scorers standings. However, the 33-year-old has called time on his spell with the Canaries, with his contract set to expire imminently.
With his chapter in East Anglia now over, the veteran forward now looks for a move stateside to join MLS outfit Minnesota United as they look to improve their striking options. Pukki had previously spoken of his hope of landing a move back to England's top tier, however, it appears that he now is set for a switch to the US, according to Pioneer Press.
Following his final outing for David Wagner's side in a 1-0 loss against Blackpool in May, the former Brondby ace was quick to suggest that he would be keeping his options open in the hope of a move to the Premier League. Speaking following the defeat against the Tangerines, he said: "If there is a Premier League club who wants me then that could be an option but we will see.
"There's always been talks and offers, but there is nothing that I would sign right now. I don't know where I'm going to end up next season.
"We will see what happens. I need a break from football and I will probably not answer to my agent for a couple of weeks. If he calls about other stuff than football then I will be interested but not football stuff."
However, it now appears that he will fly to the US to complete a switch after he has taken part in Finland's Euros qualifiers against Slovenia and San Marino later this month. All being well, he should complete his move when the MLS transfer window opens on July 5.
The club he will be joining currently sits in 10th place in the Western Conference standings with 20 points from 17 games played. With a ninth-placed finish offering the chance of play-off qualification, Pukki will be hoping to provide firepower upon his arrival.
The 110-time international still proved a valuable asset for Norwich last season, notching ten goals in 43 across all competitions and served the club with distinction during two seasons in the top tier, reaching double figures in terms of strikes on both occasions. He departs the club sitting third behind only Chris Sutton and Grant Holt in terms of goals in the Premier League.
