A man has appeared in court accused of acting in an inappropriate and unprofessional manner towards three women in his role as a police community support officer.
Gary Carter is charged with three counts of wilfully misconducting himself while acting as a public officer, a PCSO, TeessideLive reports. The charges state that Carter, of Allendale Road, Billingham, acted in an inappropriate and unprofessional manner in Gateshead between 2007 and 2014.
Northumbria Police have confirmed that Carter retired as a Police Community Support Officer in January 2015.

The 48-year-old appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court court on Friday, April 22. Cater, who wore a black suit, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address.
Carter did not enter a plea to the three charges. He is due to appear at Teesside Crown Court for the first time on Friday, May 20.
Carter was granted unconditional bail but was warned he must attend court next month or he will be committing an offence.
