Former Patriots WR N’Keal Harry expected to miss eight weeks after undergoing surgery

Former New England Patriots receiver N’Keal Harry underwent “tightrope surgery” on Thursday morning and is expected to be sidelined around eight weeks, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

The current Chicago Bear went down last weekend at training camp with a high ankle sprain.

It’s a tough turn of events for Harry, who has been plagued with injuries since being drafted No. 32 overall by the Patriots in 2019. He made a a handful of plays that flashed his potential, but he never caught on with his former team as much more than an extra blocker.

He was traded to the Bears in July in exchange for a 2024 seventh-round draft pick.

Bears quarterback Justin Fields is still developing, and it’s going to be hard for him to find chemistry with Harry on the fly eight weeks into the season. And that’s assuming the wideout is even ready to go at that time.

Realistically, it could take him a bit longer to get back into game shape considering the injury does involve a lower extremity.

It’s an ugly blow for a Bears team that desperately needed help at receiver and an even uglier blow for Harry, who now prepares for the familiar grind of rehabbing an injury while everyone else is playing football.
