Former Green Bay Packers pass game coordinator Greg Williams has a new gig. On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Rams announced additions to their 2024 coaching staff, including Williams as the new inside linebackers coach.
Williams spent only one year in Green Bay under defensive coordinator Joe Barry, who was fired this offseason after three seasons. Prior to his brief stint with the Packers, Williams coached the Arizona Cardinals’ cornerbacks for four seasons (2019-22). He was also a defensive backs coach for the Denver Broncos (2018) and Indianapolis Colts (2016-17).
After parting ways with Barry and hiring former Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley, the team made multiple changes to the defensive staff.
ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported that Derrick Ansley would replace Williams as the new passing game coordinator following three seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers. Ansley spent two seasons as the defensive backs coach before being promoted to defensive coordinator in 2023. However, he did call defensive plays for the Chargers until the firing of head coach Brandon Staley in December.
Green Bay also hired assistant defensive line coach Vince Oghobaase and linebackers coach/run game coordinator Anthony Campanile.
Most recently, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reported that the Packers were hiring Aaron Hill as the new strength and conditioning coach on Monday.
The team has not officially announced its coaching staff for the 2024 season.
