Former Ohio State women’s basketball great, Kelsey Mitchell, makes WNBA All-Star team

Former Ohio State women’s basketball star, Kelsey Mitchell, was named to her first WNBA All-Star game recently, as a reserve.

Mitchell’s accolades in college were numerous. She played for the Buckeyes from 2014 to 2018 and was named a four-time All-American. She led OSU to two Big Ten championships and finished her career averaging 24.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in the scarlet and gray. She still stands as the second all-time leading scorer in women’s NCAA history behind Washington’s Kelsey Plum.

Once in the WNBA, Mitchell has continued to put up impressive numbers, somehow missing out on several All-Star teams. With the Indiana Fever this year, she has averaged 17.0 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists so far this season.

Call us biased maybe, but it’s kind of crazy that she hasn’t made an All-Star squad yet, and that she only made it as a reserve this year. Something tells me there brighter things ahead on the horizon.
