Former Ohio State safety Kendall Sheffield claimed by Houston Texans

Well, that didn’t take long.

Just a couple of days after being released by the Atlanta Falcons, former Ohio State safety Kendall Sheffield was claimed by the Houston Texans. ESPN’s Field Yates was the first to report the news.

Sheffield was originally drafted by the Falcons in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft. He quickly ascended as a starting safety during his first two years in the league but began to get lost in the shuffle last season, much of it because of injury concerns. He is credited with 101 tackles during his three years in Atlanta.

Sheffield will now try to carve out some playing time in Houston. We’ll be keeping an eye on how it all goes as things progress through summer and into the fall.

We’ll also continue to keep our eyes and ears open for any further developments with Ohio State players in the NFL.
