Former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord to transfer to ACC school

We now know where former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord will be continuing his collegiate career.

To be frank, it’s been a bit of a soap opera with McCord. After losing to Michigan — the Buckeyes’ third-straight in the series — McCord entered the transfer portal with just one year of eligibility remaining. It was a shock to many, but it came after head coach Ryan Day opened up the quarterback competition and failed to guarantee that the former 5-star prospect would be the starter moving forward.

You can read all of the rumors and speculation out there, but the bottom line is that McCord and his family must have felt that it was best for the OSU gunslinger to move on from the program and find a better fit.

On Sunday, that fit was announced and it’s one that emerged late. McCord will pack the U-Haul up and drive it from the banks of the Olentangy to upstate New York and Syracuse (subscription may be required). The news was first reported by Pete Thamel of ESPN.

McCord was named the starter late in the preseason, edging out Devin Brown. He threw for 3.170 yards and 24 touchdowns by completing 229-of-348 attempts (65.8%). He will have one year of eligibility remaining and we wish him nothing but the best.
