Former Ohio State guard Taylor Mikesell has a classy response to one fan

Taylor Mikesell is a classy individual.

After helping lead the Ohio State women’s basketball team for the past two seasons, Mikesell was selected by the Indiana Fever as the first pick in the second round (No. 13 overall) in the 2023 WNBA draft. Unfortunately, she didn’t get much of a chance to show what she can do on the court and was released before the start of the season.

With only 12 roster spots among 12 teams in the WNBA, there are many good players who don’t make the cut. One fan tried to give Mikesell a compliment that didn’t go over so well with the former Buckeye.

In a since-deleted tweet, the fan showed a clip of Fever guard Lexie Hull air balling a three-point attempt with some disparaging comments about Hull while stating that the Fever could still have Mikesell. Hull was Indiana’s first-round pick in the 2022 WNBA draft.

Mikesell didn’t take kindly to the tweet and called the fan out saying “Lexie is a great player and a phenomenal person, this is completely unnecessary. She earned that spot and is more than deserving!”

What an absolute class act and honestly it would be good to see more athletes stand up to the online trolls who are oh-so brave behind the computer screen. Clearly, Mikesell got her point across as the tweet was taken down.

Mikesell is a very good basketball player and she’ll have other opportunities to play the game she loves. More than that, she is an even better human being. In a world of keyboard warriors, these are the acts that make the online world a better place. Well done Taylor. Well done.
