A former pub in Nottinghamshire will be reopening as a Co-operative store later this month. What used to be the Flying Scotsman on Hallcroft Road, Retford, will open again on Thursday, July 28 as a Lincolnshire Co-op food store.
The £1.3-million shop is expected to bring 15 full and part-time jobs to the area and will be open from 7am until 10pm, seven days a week. Rik Greig, the member engagement manager at Lincolnshire Co-op, said the organisation had long maintained a presence in Retford, with its travel branch on Market Square and funeral home on Moorgate, and so the team was "excited" to get set up, Lincolnshire Live reports.
The store will be stocking products from the company's Love Local range, including drinks from Pheasant Brewery, which is based in the nearby village of East Markham. Shoppers will also find a wide range of groceries, baked goods, chilled beer and wines, 100 per cent British meat and takeaway foods and Costa coffee available in-store.

Rumours circulated back in June 2019 that the building could be converted into a convenience store, with the previous owner describing the closure as a "travesty". The independent co-operative also runs a community champions scheme, through which the company makes a donation to a cause every time a customer uses their dividend card.
Until September 3, shoppers will be able to fundraise for the 2nd Ordsall Guides. There will also be a collection point in store for donations to the Bassetlaw Food Bank.
