Former Nottingham Forest man Carl Jenkinson has joined Australian side Newcastle Jets after leaving the City Ground at the end of his contract.
The 30-year-old was one of the players to be released by the club at the end of last season after the expiry of their contracts. Jenkinson spent the second half of last season on loan with Melbourne City in Australia after failing to make an appearance for Forest in the first half of the campaign.
He played a total of 27 times for Melbourne in all competitions, scoring three goals. And he has now returned to Australia to join fellow A League side Newcastle Jets on a two-year-deal.

Jenkinson arrived at Forest from Arsenal in the summer of 2017 but made just 15 appearances for the club over the last five seasons. He was mainly an unused substitute in 2020/21, making just three appearances in the league.
Following his move back to Australia, Jenkinson reacted to the transfer. “I’m happy to be here and to sign for the Jets,” he told the club’s official website.
“I want to bring the best of myself to the team and try to get the best out of everyone else around me. Having met the lads I can already see it’s a great group and I’m excited to see how far we can go this season with a lot of hard work.
“I knew within five minutes of speaking with Arthur (Papas) he was a manager I wanted to play for. We have a similar outlook on the way the game should be played and I know he has big ambitions for the club moving forwards. I’m excited to be a part of this team and I will give my all to achieve something special here.”
The player also wrote on Instagram: “Very happy to have joined this great club in this beautiful city. Looking forward to getting on the training pitch with the lads and building towards the season ahead.”
