Former Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi reveals managerial 'dream'

Former Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi says it would be a “dream” to test himself as a coach in Italy.

The Frenchman is keen on a return to management, having been out of work since leaving Qatari club Al Duhail last August.

He has been linked with a number of roles since then, including with Belgian outfit Standard Liege, the Mauritania national team and Turkish side Besiktas.

Most recently, he was said to be in the running to take charge at Sunderland - along with Reds legend and former assistant coach Roy Keane - before Alex Neil was appointed earlier this month.

Lamouchi says he would love to take up a post in Italy, having spent time in the country as a player, having spells at Parma, Inter Milan and Genoa.

“Would be a dream,” he told Tutto Mercato Web. “I learned the Italian mentality and I would like to return to Italy as a coach.”

Lamouchi was sacked from his job at the City Ground in October 2020 after 16 months at the helm.

The axe came after he oversaw a final day collapse which saw the Reds miss out on the play-offs, followed by a dismal start to the 2020/21 season.

The 50-year-old went on to join Al Duhail, but his contract was terminated by “mutual consent” last summer.

He has also previously managed the Ivory Coast national team, El Jaish and French side Rennes.
