Richmond's new-look coaching panel under Adem Yze will include former North Melbourne captain Jack Ziebell.

Ziebell played 280 games for the Kangaroos and spent six seasons as the club's skipper before stepping down from the role at the end of last year.

He also served as a development coach with North's AFLW team before retiring at the end of the recently completed season.

Ziebell will be part of a new era at Richmond under Yze, who was appointed senior coach last month.

"This is a great opportunity to work with Adem and the coaches as they embark on a new and exciting journey at the Tigers," Ziebell said.

"I'm looking forward to getting to know the team and to draw on my experiences as a player to hopefully teach and guide the team to getting back up the ladder."

Jordan Russell will also leave North Melbourne and return to Carlton, where he played 116 of his 125 AFL games.

Russell, who has a decade of coaching experience with the Kangaroos and Western Bulldogs, will take the reins of the Blues' forward line.

His addition to the coaching panel will allow previous forwards coach Ashley Hansen to focus fully on his role as senior assistant to Michael Voss.

The Kangaroos have made former St Kilda and Port Adelaide defender Jarrod Lienert their Indigenous player development manager.

Lienert was a playing assistant coach in the Kangaroos' VFL side this year.

He will work alongside Robbie Ahmat in supporting the club's First Nations players.
