Former NFL scout Jim Nagy thinks that Stetson Bennett is a legitimate NFL draft prospect. Nagy is the executive director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl, which is the most important scrimmage ahead of the NFL draft.
Nagy and the Senior Bowl named Bennett as the player of the week thanks to his massive performance against Oregon.
Stetson Bennett threw for 368 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and completed 25 of his 31 pass attempts. Bennett additionally had eight rushing yards and scored a nifty rushing touchdown. The senior quarterback helped Georgia score touchdowns on seven straight drives to open the game.
Bennett and the Dawgs converted third downs with ease against Oregon en route to a 49-3 win. Bennett, who does not get much respect as a NFL draft prospect, continues to prove the doubters wrong.
Jim Nagy highlighted one of Bennett’s best throws as a reason why NFL teams should be taking a look at him. Bennett finished Week 1 with the second-highest QBR (97.3) in the country. Bennett is the only player with a top-five QBR to have faced a Power Five opponent.
It’s time @GeorgiaFootball QB Stetson Bennett starts getting respect as legit pro prospect & not just underdog story or good college QB. @StetsonIv led 7 straight TD drives vs Oregon w/ plenty of next-level transferable skills. Checkout 27-yard strike w/ delayed LB in his face.😳 https://t.co/fTdYceHS5z pic.twitter.com/vK3yt0DHsO
