New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye continues to get praise on a national level. NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, a former NFL scout, said Maye was the most impressive out of all of the rookie quarterbacks.
Maye has given the Patriots a strong offensive building block for the future. He has recorded 1,696 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions in a year where he hasn’t had much help. The offensive line has continued to struggle, and the Patriots still lack explosive receiving talent.
Yet despite all of the personnel issues, Maye has remained a bright spot for the team.
“If you’re going to ask me about all of these rookie quarterbacks, what I’ve been most impressed by? I would say Drake Maye,” said Jeremiah, when appearing on “The Rich Eisen Show.” “He’s got nothing. He’s got nothing to work with.
“The whole worry was, we’re gonna ruin Drake Maye by putting him out there because of what we have around him and the exact opposite happened. Drake Maye has gone in there and made everyone else around him better, which for a rookie quarterback, that’s some rare stuff. So of all the fan bases, the one that I feel should be the most excited right now should be New England because of what he’s doing with what he’s with.”
The early returns on Maye have been solid. If anything, it gives the Patriots real hope for the future, assuming they put all of the pieces around him.
With the right pieces, New England could return as a viable AFC contender.
