Former Newcastle United right-back DeAndre Yedlin links up with Phil Neville at Inter Miami CF

Former Newcastle United right-back DeAndre Yedlin has joined Inter Miami CF on a contract running through the 2025 season, with an option to extend for 2026.

Yedlin left Galatasary last week after just a year at the Turkish outfit but has immediately found a new club ahead of the upcoming MLS campaign.

He made just 22 appearances, scoring once for Gala following his move from the Magpies in February 2021.

The 28-year-old is Miami's 14th signing of the winter transfer window, with ex-Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs and Wolves winger Leanardo Campana also signed.

In a statement, Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson told the club's website : "I’m thrilled that we’re able to bring a player of the quality of DeAndre to Inter Miami.

"He is a very talented, exciting, and dynamic player on the pitch and an experienced winner who is also a positive character in the locker room that will help us improve our roster.

"He’s a well-rounded right back who likes to get up and down the pitch and has proven himself in MLS, the Premier League, the Süper Lig, and at the international level, and we look forward to seeing him help us succeed now at Inter Miami."

Inter Miami fans will get to meet the new, revamped squad, which includes Yedlin, this weekend at DRV PNK Stadium, where the team will be hosting an open training session.

The fixtures for their first competitive game of the season haven't been released yet, but the campaign is set to get underway in March as Phil Neville's side look to build on a 10th-place finish.

However, there's no doubt Yedlin will bring quality and experience to the Miami squad after playing over 100 times in the Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland and Newcastle.

His time at the Magpies, though, was arguably his most memorable as he helped the club to win the Championship in his first season, featuring 32 times in all competitions.

Yedlin kept his place as Newcastle's first-choice right-back in the top-flight and was an integral part of the team that finished 10th and 13th under Rafael Benitez.

But Yedlin's game time was reduced when Steve Bruce was appointed and he fell out of favour before leaving the Magpies midway through the 2020/21 campaign.
