Former Newcastle United captain Scott Parker has been sacked as manager of Bournemouth just four matches into the Premier League season. Parker had guided Bournemouth to automatic promotion from the Championship last term in his first year in charge but has been relieved of his duties with the Cherries sat 17 th in the table.
After an excellent opening day win over Aston Villa, Bournemouth have suffered three consecutive defeats at the hands of Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool. The latest of those at Anfield equalled the record for the heaviest ever Premier League loss as they were beaten 9-0 by Jurgen Klopp’s side.
That defeat Liverpool prompted Parker to label his Bournemouth side ‘ill-equipped at this level’, which appears to have been his undoing on the South Coast. Newcastle are due to host Bournemouth on Saturday 17 September, when they will hope to have a new manager in place.

A statement on the club’s official website from co-owner Maxim Demin said: “I would like to place on record my gratitude to Scott and his team for their efforts during their time with us. Our promotion back to the Premier League last season under his tenure will always be remembered as one of the most successful seasons in our history.
“However, in order for us to keep progressing as a team and a Club as a whole, it is unconditional that we are aligned in our strategy to run the club sustainably. We must also show belief in and respect for one another.
“That is the approach that has brought this club so much success in recent history, and one that we will not veer from now. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately.”
